Livin' on Love...

and not a lot of sleep!

After a long day at home with the kiddos, I had such a wonderful night... one of those times that makes all the small sacrifices worth it and then some! Kaleb has been sick and a little on the whiny, not minding, side and driving me a little crazy. By the time Ben got home, it was definitely time for some Father-Son fun! After dinner, they called Gramma and Grampa Murdock, and then Ben played with Kaleb in the bath and got him ready for bed.

Dylan and I were left to relax... I got him to sleep, then took a much needed two hour nap. (Is it really called a nap if it's after dinner?) Anyway, it was fabulous sleeping in our nice bed with fresh, clean sheets and the window open, letting in the cool night breeze. I woke up to Dylan needing fed, and then got a second wind, and finished up cleaning up the mess of the day.

Kaleb woke up around midnight and needed some cuddles. He's such a cuddler and we fell asleep nose to nose snuggling in his little bed. Then it was Dylan's turn... he was fussing a little, so I went to check on him. He had his arms up on either side of his head while he was sleeping (I love that!) and when I patted his little tummy, he smiled so sweetly. Later I nursed him and he started "talking" to me...making the sweetest little sighs and cutest little coos and I fell in love with him all over again!

When it was finally time for Ben and I to "hit the hay," he tickled in my hair until we were both asleep. It was such a sweet ending to such a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day!

It's in his kiss! That's where it is..oh yeah!

Kaleb has been sick with a cold since Sunday, and you never realize how much lovin' you get, until your kiddo is sick! All week long he has tried to smother us, especially Dylan-bop, with kisses. We're probably all well on our way to being sick, but who can resist him when he puckers up like this?!?

A WiLd DaY!!!

It finally cooled off here enough to be outside without melting, so we decided to go on a family outing to the zoo. We love the zoo... Kaleb and I have been countless times over the past year or two, meeting friends for play dates, and always have a great time!

We met at Uncle Rog's (K now calls him Uncle Garage) beforehand to meet up with Randy and Ayden and just to visit. Since we don't normally go to the zoo from that part of town, we asked Randy to lead the way. Well, we got lost in a crazy part of Tempe and ended up taking a left hand turn through construction when there was a HUGE sign saying not to. Two minutes later we see a cop pull out and Randy gets pulled over. Luckily the cop was nice and pretty much let him go.

So now we're at the zoo and visiting our first animal... the elephants. Randy, Ayden, Ben & Kaleb were up close by the fence and I was in the shade with Dylan when a woman comes up to me frantically and says, "Who's child is that?!?" I look up and sure enough, there's a little hispanic kid INSIDE the fence of the elephant area. Another mom got the little boy to come to the fence (which Ben says is electronic) and lifted him back to safety. He could have easily fallen 10 feet or so to where the elephants actually are, but luckily didn't. Randy's comment was classic, "They're used to jumping fences."

So we go about the rest of the day, enjoying the animals and being outside together. It got kind of warm, so we let A & K go to the splash pad. Randy and I were sitting on a bench under a tree with Dylan when I felt something wet on my arm. I look at it and Randy convinced me it was tree sap. Like an idiot, I stay there and we keep chatting. 10, 15 minutes go by and something else lands on my shoulder... no doubt about it this time, four huge disgusting blobs of bird poo land on my shoulder, back and arm and of course, I'm wearing a white shirt! So, needless to say I was done with the zoo. We scooped the boys up, Ben bought me a really fashionable Phoenix Zoo tshirt, and we were on our way. Whew! What a WiLd and CrAzY day!!!

Ben & Sara...BFF

What is his name? Ben (usually pronounced Be-en... esp. if he's teasing me!)
How long have you been together? We have been together for 7 years and change... married for 6
How old is he? 29
Who eats more? Definitely depends on the food... chips & salsa, me! steak, him!
Who said I love you first? Sheesh... I think I did! I can't really remember who said it first, but it was magical!
Who is taller? Him by a lot!
Who sings better?hopefully me since he rarely sings unless he's making fun of someone.... but on the other hand, Kaleb asked me to stop singing today when I was singing a lullaby to baby D...it's probably a toss up!
Who is smarter? hmmm... he tells me I'm married to a "freakin' genius" but I married him, so what does that make me?
Who does the laundry? me... almost always
Who does the dishes? me again... it's Ben's least fav. thing to do, and I really don't mind.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? He does
Who pays the bills? Ben, but that may soon change
Who mows the lawn? he does...about once a year... j/k honey!
Who cooks dinner? I do most of the time, but Ben is a really good cook when he wants to be... esp. Italian
Who drives when you are together? Almost always Ben, although I am an excellent driver! :)
Who is more stubborn? Def. me... where do you think Kaleb got it from?
Who is the first to admit when they're wrong? toss up
Whose parents do you see the most? We don't see either set very often, but my mom makes a lot of trips each year.
Who kissed who first? He kissed me, it was a day after he asked me to be his girlfriend and we were slow dancing to the Notting Hill CD. I felt like it was my first kiss ever (too bad I can't say it was) and it was amazing!
Who proposed? He did, OF COURSE!
Who is more sensitive? We both are about different things... probably me though. (I'm also hormonal and living on very little sleep... what do you expect?!?)
Who has more friends? He claims that I'm his only friend, so I guess that would be me.
Who has more siblings? Me again... 4 younger brothers.
Who wears the pants in the family? Ben... or at least he thinks he does! j/k

Feel free to be tagged if you want to play!!!

Inside the Mind of a Two Year Old...

Kaleb cracks me up all day, every day. It's just hilarious to me the things he says and the way his little mind works. Here are some of our favorite "Kalebisms."

*I not feeling good (when trying to get out of doing something)

*I'm stuck (usually when in carseat)

*I'm going to tickle your toes!!! (his favorite past time)

*Boola-shocka, boola-shocka! (a tickling game that he and Ben made up)

*I not K-buzz, I Kaleb (he pronounces it Kayub)

*Daddy, I love you!

*I have a good idea!

*Wait a minute... (wonder where he heard this one?)

*I'm busy (this is a new one)

*Sure, I'd love to! (even when asked to take out a dirty diaper)

*He's SO cute! (in reference to baby Dylan... we hear this all day long :)

The Many Colors of Me...

I recently colored my hair darker than it's been for a while and was explaining to Kaleb that my hair was going to be a new color. He immediately asked with hope in his voice, "Blue?"
"No."
"Green?"
"No."
"Oh, I know...orange?"
"No."
He went on guessing just about every color of the rainbow, or at least the ones he remembered. I think he was a little disappointed to see mommy's hair a dark brownish color instead of his favorite, Doc Hudson Blue.

Speaking of hair, Dylan lost the hair on top and is sporting the really cool old man look now. He does have sweet new peach fuzz coming in (so fun to nuzzle up to). Any guesses on what color his hair will be?
