THE CURSE

Well, even though we'd had a rough day, and Ruby had 4 immunizations a few hours earlier, I decided (against my better judgement) that I SHOULD go to our quarterly Relief Society dinner. I told myself I needed to get out, be around my friends, and I know how much time and effort go into these events, so I should go & support it. I picked up Sandy & we went. While there, my friend Brittni and I were talking about our kids, and she commented how we've been so healthy this flu season, esp. compared to last season. I know better, but went ahead and did it anyway. (Why, why, why? Stupid, stupid me!) I said it aloud, "Yes, we've all been really healthy, Ruby hasn't had a cold or anything at all. She was perfectly healthy at the doctor's today. Knock on wood."

SHEZAM....CURSE is CAST!

Later that night, around 3 am, little Ruby wakes for her feeding and I can hear her nose clogged up. When we get up for the morning, she has the runniest nose I've ever seen, a few sneezes & coughs, and a temperature of 100.4.

When will I ever learn?!?

The Apple of My Eye

Four months have really flown by so fast! Ruby has discovered her hands now, her voice, and can roll over from back to tummy. She's started this very unladylike groaning when she's tired, and sucks 2 fingers or her thumb, whichever she finds first. She's also drooling a ton now, and working on those teeth already. What an overachiever! Ruby tends to sleep for a good chunk of time (5-7 hours) when I put her down at night, then usually wakes up every 2 hours after that. She also loves her daddy & brothers. They make goofy faces and do silly dances to make her laugh. That little laugh is so contagious, we just love it!

Ruby's four month appt. went really well. She checked out perfectly, was great for Dr. Chung, and looked at me like I was a traitor when she got her vaccinations. :( She's 13 lbs 6 oz now, and about 50% for height and weight. She still has a small little head...in the 10th percentile. Wondering how Dylan's huge head could be off the chart for being so big, and Ruby's the exact opposite? Our poor kids!

I've been going through a rough patch lately. Boys are in a funk, I am too. Lots of whining +crying tantrums= L O N G days, and quite a few sleepless nights, but the one great part of my day, every day is Ruby. Really. Everything can fall apart, and then I look at her, hold, squeeze & kiss her, she looks at me & smiles, and all is right with the world again.

A Family Filled Weekend!

A few weekends ago, Grandma & Grandpa Murdock & Uncle Blake came for a visit. While they were in town, we were also able to see Grandma & Grandpa Jarvis, our kiddos Great Grandparents, Great Uncle Greg and a Great-Great Aunt Susanne.

It was so much fun to see them and spend time together relaxing, showing off our Ruby-girl, and catching up. The boys were so happy to show off for everyone and just to be around family. Kaleb was really excited to play wii with everyone, and schooled them in the process. In between the comings and goings, we were also able to webcam w/ Aunt Barbara.

Highlights include:
Everyone meeting Ruby for the first time,
Enjoying the Olympics together,
Dylan sitting on Uncle Blake's lap at church,
Kaleb reading Grandpa The Foot Book,
Grandma talking with Ruby & tickling Dylan,
Boys Club to the Railroad Park & Museum.

We're happy to have our Grandparents living closer & hope that all will be well for them in this new chapter of their lives. We love you and hope to see you again soon!
