Word-FULL-Wednesday

it's been a weird day
insomnia
got up at 3 am
early morning scriptures
banana pancakes
happy kiddos
rollerbladed 5k with Ruby & D
tunnels & sliding together
d opened our door to a stranger while i was in the shower
luckily he then came & told me, so i got to answer it dripping wet
in a robe-towel-head combo with a baby on my hip
so grateful that what could have been a catastrophe,
ended up with safe and innocent children
still entrusted to my care
koala hugs from d
early morning snuggles with k
he still plays in my hair
rocked and held my ruby girl to sleep
she still fits just right
savored my children today
danced & laughed with my girl
pulled k's first top tooth
friends, friends, friends so, so grateful for them
hands down best husband who is always there for me
i feel so wonderfully blessed

April Foolery

Taking inspiration from one of my favorite local columnists, Karina Bland of My So-Called Midlife, I decided to step it up a bit this year. In her words, On April Fools' Day, I get to be the fun mom, not just the enforcer of bedtime and force-feeder of vegetables. I get to be the one fooling around instead of the one saying, "No." I get to make my kid laugh.

And SO....we had green scrambled eggs & blue milk in our cereal for breakfast.

Preschoolers, beware!

Worm filled apples for snack, YUK!
They loved them of course, and didn't quite get the joke. Candy is candy, right?
Unsuspecting kindies taking a cold drink after a hot day!
(Jello with straws) Also didn't get it, well I think K did, and look at this smile.
Totally worth it!

The real joker in the fam is Ben, of course. He got his co-workers GOOD all day long. He has the trick where every time they answered their phone, it would go on speaker & blast hilarious songs....spice girls, etc. He also "took over" some of their computers and would start shutting down their windows or moving their mouse repeatedly. He's known for it, and nobody attempts to get him back because they KNOW he will just get them back better next year...ha!

Now every time the boys are joking around they yell, APRIL FOOLS. It's April 10th now. We like to stretch our holidays out. :)

Our First Dance

After a rough day, and a crazy evening, we were a little late getting there. We walked into Kaleb's first dance and he was just taking it all in, not quite sure what to think. We visited the refreshments table, said hi to some friends, and then we DANCED! He was sooooooooo ridiculously cute. I almost wish I had it recorded, but then I would have missed out on the action. It was pure, uninhibited, carefree dancing. His friends asked him if he wanted to play, he said no. We PUT OUR HANDS in the AIR, he got down for some break-dancing, we twirled, shaked, and did every embarrassing move I know. The last call for pictures came from the MC, so we went and had ours taken. I convinced him to dance one country slow dance with me, and then I lost him. He joined the boys. Chasing. Running. Having fun. All in all it was a great first dance date. He was mine, all mine, for a good 27 minutes and I got a good-night kiss out of it!
