Soccer Saturday

D kicking it in from the sideline.
Dylan made a handful of goals this season, even though he had a few older boys on this team that dominated. He was really good at staying aside of the pack, and breaking away with the ball. Several times he would dribble the length of the field to score, or almost (that David!) score goals. The other half of the time he may have been dancing with his shadow. We're not sure. Either way, it was CUTE though! He also had a crush on a little girl named Olivia. I think we all did...she's one gorgeous 4 year old! The Blizzards went undefeated this season and D was well aware the fact. He really has a thing about numbers and knows every kids' number on his team, what number K was when he was on past teams, and how many goals/wins/ etc. for every game.Kaleb played in the big kid league this season where they enforce more rules, teach positions, and it was boys only. He had a new (meaning first timer), but enthusiastic coach, and this soccer mom may have talked her handsome hubby into assisting. After the first game disaster, I couldn't bear to watch another game, if he didn't! That said, it is amazing how far his team came from the beginning of the season. The Wizards were about half and half, I believe. Kaleb made a few goals throughout the season, had a lot of great defensive moments, and even got to play goalie for about a quarter every game. Today he made the only goal of the game. Coach Jay told him it was the play of the season. :) K retells it by saying he used his "undominate arm" to block the guy and kick it in. He also did his uncs proud by BOOTING it 3/4 of the way down the field after blocking a goal. That kid has a leg on him!
Ben telling him exactly where to kick it with the wind when playing goalie.
The Wizard Wall on defense.
Kaleb's goal!
Father & Son celebrating! My favorite photo I've ever taken.

APRIL FOOL'S!
The stars aligned, the kids are young, we got 'em good, our little ones!
Saturday night after the kids were in bed, I told Ben we should make them get ready for church tomorrow. It was General Conference weekend, or church on TV, as the kids like to call it. We lounge in our jammies, eat cinnamon rolls, and enjoy our MoTab and prophets from the comfort of our own home. We did all this on Saturday morning, but thought the boys were young enough, they might just fall for it. When will we ever have General Conference & April Fools on the same day again?
7:30 am, the kids are waking. Ben goes to the boys' room and tells them church is in 15 minutes, that they have to hurry and get dressed for church. Our church is normally at 8:30 and oft times it is chaotic getting there on time. They got ready fast, without arguing, which NEVER happens, and although they still have bed-head and no breakfast in them, they were out the door. Ruby & I weren't feeling good, so Ben took them and the camera. Here's the before:
Here's Ben getting K with the bug on the end of a QTip trick I tried (and failed miserably) a few weeks ago.
Ben had to fly out to NY around noon, so I took the kids to visit Grandma. She finally arrived about a week ago with Uncle Ron & Miss in their new motor home. I had saved the centennial newspaper (2/14/12) for my parents & grandma to read because it had a lot of neat history articles, and I thought they'd enjoy it. I brought it and gave it to my grandma because I know she loves the Sunday paper. I rolled and rubber banded and handed it to her when we arrived. It took her 4 hours after a lot of visiting and eating before she opened it. I had taken the kids to tour the motor home one last time and came back to the house before she asked about it. So happy she finally opened it before I left so I could APRIL FOOLS! HER and give her the current paper. She couldn't stop smiling! :)

The rest of the day they were getting me back. "Mom, there's a dragon over there!" It's a miracle I'm still alive. D also dubbed it "April Foodles"...not sure why, but it was pretty cute. Here's Ben getting K with the bug on the end of a QTip trick I tried (and failed miserably) a few weeks ago.

LUCKY # ELEVEN
Yesterday was our anniversary. I asked Kaleb on our run to get the sitter if he knew how long we'd been married. "I dunno...4 years?" Well how old are you? We were married for 5 years before we had you. Kids...sheesh! After our fun early anniversary getaway to San Diego, all we really wanted was a kid free date night.
I met Ben in town and he took me to Mastro's in Scottsdale. It was so nice! We reminisced about past anniversaries and favorite memories of our years together: our trips, our firsts, each of our kids. LOVE! The food at Mastro's was AmAzInG! I was in love with their bread basket alone: fresh sourdough, hard & crunchy garlic sticks, pretzels puffs, and a blueberry french bread. I was in CARB HEAVEN! I ordered an heirloom tomato fancy mozzarella salad with a reduced balsamic sauce & fresh basil and Ben had their house salad which had the largest shrimp I've ever seen on it. He gave me a bite, and I'm sure I out-ordered him. He ordered a yummy steak and shared a bit with me...it was divine! They brought it out on 400 degree piping hot plates. We also shared sugar snap peas and lobster mashed potatoes. Afterward they brought us a four layer chocolately-syrupy slice of cake to share. The best part was the fancy "Happy Anniversary" note written on the plate in chocolate. We both agreed my chocolate cake is much better. Love my hubby & that we almost always think alike! I can only imagine what we'll be like in another 11 years. :)
Afterward we walked around Scottsdale Fashion place, home to many a very expensive store. Ben found a Coach money clip he wanted and I found the only red necks in the place, "Me & hims shopping." It was pretty hilarious! We also found a Puma store, so Ben bought me a new pair of shoes for our hike that I think I can wear to hike, in the water, and running afterward. Can't wait!
When we got home we sifted through our old albums and it was so fun! Ben also gave me a sweet card & lotto tix. I guess it's up to 600 million. Lucky #11? I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend, lucky to have been where I have been, lucky to be coming home again. I'm lucky we're in love in every way, lucky to have stayed where we have stayed, lucky to be coming home someday. Ben says it wasn't luck.
Here's another little surprise he made for me. It's too good not to share. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

And now you know why I married him! ;)
