Eight is Great!

We were all looking forward to Kaleb's big day, but the kids were up at the crack of dawn for cinnamon rolls & presents. It was pretty cute!  Ben took him to school then worked from home while we finished packing the truck. We gave K the choice of a friend party or a family trip to Disneyland. He's pretty smart & we took off for Disneyland!  K's choice for dinner on the way: Del Taco. We watched his new movie Ice Age III with surround sound, thanks to Ben's awesome new truck, on the long stretch. We also talked about our 8 year old's favorite things: root beer, sports, running fast, Bulldog, swimming, fruit: watermelon, apples, peaches, cherries, grapes, cherry tomatoes, Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, sour patch kids, playing wii, dancing like a crazy man, laughing, drawing, reading Sunday comics. Kaleb still wants to be a zookeeper when he grows up & told me the other day he'll get used to the stinky smells since he's been to the dump with his dad before.
K & his loot!  He loved the Golden Lloyd lego set D picked out & fun package from G & G Stock.
Ruby's shirt reads: I'm the best present ever! Ruby pulled that one off on her own, I promise.

K had sports day at school & brought donuts shaped like an 8 to share with his friends.
Chalk Surprise Happy Birthday, Kaleb from Ruby & Dylan.
Road trip surprise.

The Girl Who Knows Everything

Is not the girl who's up late blogging.

It's Ruby, of course!

For the last few months whenever anyone tries to help her, or give her advice, she says, "I already know that, right? I know everything." Dylan and Kaleb usually tease her and ask her a math question, but while Mom & Dad were here, Kaleb agreed with her. She then agreed that he was really smart. She's also really, DUPER, adorable right now. Another one of her favorite words.

A few more about what's going through her little mind, normally first thing in the morning or late at night.

Mom, sometimes a little girl and a big girl can be friends, right?

Yes, of course we're friends. We're best friends forever!

And sometimes our whole family can be best friends, right?

Mom, do you know that I really duper love you?

Yes. Do you know that I love you?

Yes.  Do you know that Dad loves you?

Yes. How do you know?

Because I love you.

Someday we'll get married, and then we'll kiss.  She then goes on to give m a kissing lesson.  No, Mom, you have to tilt your head like this!

Mom, how come you call Grandpa Nurdock "Dad"?

How come the bad guys in Wreck it Ralph don't say a prayer and ask for help to choose the right?
She may not know EVERYTHING, but she does seem to have a grasp on the important things.  It does my heart good to know she loves her family, that we're all best friends, and she knows who to turn to when she needs help choosing the right. I really duper love my Super Girl!
