MY BOYS

Time for another edition of MY BOYS, because they're doing it again. Making me laugh so much, I thought I'd share!

DYLAN: Has recently learned that his parents have names. Today he introduced me to our pediatrician. it went something like this: This is my arm. This is my leg. This is my baby sister, Ruby. (which sounds like RUVY) This is my mom, her name is Sara. What 2 year old does this!?! He also is really good at pretend and is always IN CHARACTER all day long. He assigns the rest of us parts. On a typical day he will be Momzilla, Rudy, Superman, Batman, and sometimes Ben. He has a tremendously loud ROAR that goes with his dinosaur characters from Ice Age, and his superhero antics come complete with background music. If I dut-dut-dut his Superman theme song, he'll correct me. No Mom, it's HMM-HMM-HMM. I've been messing with him and doing it all day...he, he, he and he corrects me every single time! He also wiggles his entire body when he's eating something he really likes.
KALEB: Is a liar-liar-pants-on-fire lately. For stupid stuff really, but we're trying to nip it in the bud. Did you hit your brother? NO. Did you make your bed? NO and on and on it goes. He has been grounded from WII and friends for 3 days this week because of it. We have new nicknames for each other. Kaleb calls me Mommy-who-knows-everything-what-to-do in a not quite smart-alecky voice. I laughed so hard the first time he called me this, he keeps doing it! Today I started to call him Kaleb-who-knows-how-to-do-everything-by-himself (but often chooses not to).

BEN: Decides to come home after a long, hard day for both of us and declare: What would you say to me if I told you I'd quit my job? I could tell he was messing with me, so I stayed very calm and did not give him the ballistic reaction he would have deserved if said job was quit, but come on! After all that both our parents have been through recently, not to mention several close friends, do you really go there? Apparently some guy at his work did. For real. I hope he isn't married.

Two Months, Too Soon

This is after Ruby's first party outing, a baby shower for Leslie & baby Sophia.
Ruby's first dressy-dress...I love all the details, including the lining which has the lace trim.

Aunt Carlybell & Little Miss wearing a vintage dress that was supposed to go to the sis I never had!

Our sweet baby girl is 2 months already... I can hardly believe it! Ruby is a sweet, sweet baby and so much fun! This month we've played lots of dress up, spent time with family and friends, and went to the zoo for the first time. Ruby is a strong baby and can hold her head up really well. She is also happy, smiles a lot, and sometimes sticks out her tongue when she's flirting. Baby Girl loves it when we talk to her and will sometimes coo back. For the past few weeks she's been trying to find her thumb, but normally ends up sucking on a knuckle. I've also caught her sucking on two fingers together, so we'll see. This also means she's resisting the pacifier, not convenient, but oh well. Ruby is a really good sleeper for a 2 month old and also enjoys her bath. I just want to eat her up afterward, she smells so good! I've noticed she's rubbing off a bald spot on the back of her little head (NO!) but her eyelashes are getting longer and looking similar to Dylan & Ben's (YES!).

STATS: 11 pounds 4 ounces, 23 inches long, 14 3/4 inches head circumference, perfect in every way according to Mom & Dr. Chung

First Christmas dress & ruby bracelet from Daddy

Stretching in the New Year! Kaleb & Ben picked out this rockin' 80's outfit for his Christmas present to Ruby-tuby (his nickname for her)

First pair of Gap jeans... I couldn't resist! Look at that face... I think she might be done playing dress up!

My Day

Everyone deserves a day, right?
All dolled up with nowhere to go!

Pretty Girl!
Ruby's smiles make me SO unbelievably happy-appy-appy!!!

29+4 aged me found joy in the following on my special day:
Yoga with Silly Dylan who thinks I'm his jungle gym & gives lots of hugs,
Phone calls, texts & messages on FB from family & friends near and far,
some with serenading, laughter, & much love!
Playing dress up with Ruby and her super sweet smiles.
An unexpected visit from Jen & Bobyn's specialty homemade bread,
Card making with Jenna and kids that cooperated!
Packages of presents that arrived on the 7th.
Pizza by candlelight, a night off for me!
Huge card from my boys complete with drawings & cute sayings written by Kaleb.
A very thoughtful book from a husband who loves me and is my best friend.
Surprise delivery of homemade chocolate birthday cake from Kaylalala.
Fun lunch with girlfriends the day before complete with pretty pink roses & treats.
A yummy steak dinner that weekend with my hubby & kiddos...all 3 were well behaved.

Although I'd really rather forget it's my birthday and that I'm not getting any younger, it is really nice to be remembered and to feel so much love!
