Fingerprints

Do you see what I see?  Fingerprints, of course,  but if you look a little closer you'll see a smily face. That's my boy, I thought and smiled, as I immediately remembered this wonderful talk about life by President Monson entitled, Finding Joy in the Journey.

If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly.

-President Thomas S. Monson

I feel like I'm drowning in laundry, dishes, and I'm lucky to get anything beyond that done every day. I won't even bring up my floors, the dust, or the bathrooms & boys rooms that always seem to smell even though I JUST CLEANED THEM! But I try to balance work with play and paying special attention to my little ones. This week Kaleb and I read chapters of Stuart Little together and he told me that my art lesson in his class was the best part of his day. D and I "read" Waldo several times, made cookies & Valentines together. Ruby and I slept & snuggled and painted her toe & fingernails pink..."it's pretty, Mama!"  And although I love a clean and organized house, I know it doesn't last, but neither do these childhood moments. One of Ruby's new sayings is, "I love you SO MUCH!" and that's how I feel... I love my life SO MUCH, especially the people in it.
The house can wait! And maybe, just maybe, someday I can hire a cleaning service.  ;)
