So, this is Christmas!

I'm writing this in March and I'd really like to skip this post because it's completely overwhelming to me. Not only did we pack in a million fun and meaningful things into the Christmas season this year, but we also went to Utah the day after for a mini-reunion with the Murdock sibs. I think a photo-log with captions might be in order, since I'll never be able to do it justice! I'll save our winter family vacation for the next post, or I'll never get around to posting either.

Buddy, the Elf, came back for a visit.  He was a tad mischievous this year.  Ruby said she'd fall asleep at night dreaming of Buddy's magic. :)

I was on "the committee" and ended up planning, buying, and cooking Cafe Rio for 250 for our ward Christmas party. STRESSED=Desserts. I gained more than a few lbs this month!

Cookies with Santa at K's school. The kids are starting to wonder how Santa is at various different places.  I mean, they already told Santa on the Polar Express what they wanted, why would they need to tell him again? Daddy-magic stepped in and saved the day somehow.

We celebrated our engagement on 12-12-12 this year. Such a nice romantic night out...even on a school night!  I know, crazy, right? Ben sent me 3 dozen roses.
We delivered chips & homemade salsa for FHE one night complete with one verse of "We wish you a Merry Christmas!" We shared them with all our near neighbors, ward members in our loop, and any visit/home teaching families, as well as primary teachers.  That was A LOT of salsa, and A LOT of fun! We also received some awesome treats from our neighbors, my favs being hot sugar pecans from the Barcus fam next door, and homemade candy from the Boddy's.

D insisted on making gingerbread men & cookies for his preschool performance since they read the book. He and Ruby helped cut & decorate them and we had so much fun!

Dylan's preschool put on THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER! I''m competely serious.  IT was the cutest kid program I've been to, and being a teacher, I've been to a few.  They did all these versions of Jingle Bells, sang a Hawaiian Christmas song, did some with bells, and finished with Picture a Christmas.

My spiky haired angel!

The all boy *they borrowed a Mary from another class* nativity.
Dad was able to make it on his lunch break. We LOVE living in Mesa!

Ian & Dylan
Christmas waffle-trees in da house!
Very funny, Buddy!

Off to the temple lights with "my girls." The first activity I went to as a Laurel advisor...so excited!
Buddy left us a message from Santa.
I finally got into K"s classroom to help decorate Santa sleighs. He's so cute!
Our Christmas village.
We had the cousins over to decorate gingerbread houses & play Christmas bingo.  I think I also made a yummy brunch.
Mesa Temple lights with the family, one of our favorite traditions.
Sunday Christmas outfits, all dressed up!
Ruby loves to pose now!
Santa surprised us at the door Christmas Eve...for real!  He gave us candy canes and told us to go to bed on time, so he could deliver our presents.

The kids slept under the tree Christmas eve-eve. :)
Dylan's first gift the night before Christmas.
Ruby's first gift, a wand from Jo, Terra & Soph.

K's first gift from Grandma & Papa.

Treats for Santa & his reindeer.

All lit up!

Boys club, Christmas Day.

Girls Club, Christmas Day.
Biscuits & Gravy with Uncle Rog & fam later that day.
We spent the rest of Christmas day finishing packing for our trip, setting up our train, and playing with our other new toys. Ruby's Santa gift was a Princess Castle, the boys received Legos. Of course lots of other goodies as well, we were all spoiled this year!
